Where to Stay in New York City: Hotel Elysée

We always wanted to spend New Year’s Eve in New York City. And in 2019 our dream came true. We arrived in NYC in the morning of December 31, 2018. Yes, it was too risky but thank God everything ended up as planned.

The end and the beginning of the year in New York is always high season. The city is full of tourists from all around the world and the price of attractions and hotels may increase. The city will definitely be very crowded, so it can be very difficult to make a hotel reservation, specially if you are looking for a more accessible price. Hotels in NYC tend to be overpriced, very expensive. And in high season period it can be even worse. So pay attention to this and book your hotel as soon as possible.

Although we barely spend much time in our hotel room while traveling, your hotel choice may be the most important decision you make when planning a trip. A small, dirty, smelly or poorly located hotel can easily ruin your entire trip, specially in New York.

So the second hotel booking tip we can give you to get the best room, the best hotel location and the best price in New York City, besides doing it as soon as you can, is to take a look at review sites (like TripAdvisor). There you may have a good idea on how your stay would be at the hotel you are looking for. They are all wonderful and very well located in Midtown Manhattan (Hotel Giraffe stays in NoMad – Madison Square North). We had the amazing opportunity to stay in 2 of these hotels: Library Hotel and Hotel Elysée. And we could notice how perfect they are. They really invest in luxury, comfort and quality of everything. They are known for their excellence in customer service and for their rich traditional decor. We strongly recommend them. It is really worthy to stay there. A hotel that has a low base rate but doesn’t include any amenities can often end up costing you more than a hotel that includes complimentary everything. And those from The Library Hotel Collection, like Hotel Elysée and Library Hotel, already include everything you need. Actually, they include more than everything, they are perfect! We wanted to meet all 4 hotels of The Library Hotel Collection brand in NYC, but unfortunately Casablanca and Giraffe Hotel were overbooked already.

LOCALIZATION

New York is an amazing city and there you will find many options of hotels. But to stay in a 4 stars hotel with an excellent location and service in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, at only a few minutes of Central Park is of immeasurable value. The hotel also stays a few steps from MoMa and Fifth Avenue. Its location couldn’t be more convenient.

Hotel Elysée also stays close from many other Midtown Manhattan tourist attractions, like St. Bart’s Church, Central Park Zoo, Bryant Park, Rockefeller Center and NBC Studios. The hotel is perfect!

Elysée Hotel is among the best evaluations on TripAdvisor for a reason. Part of the The Library Hotel Collection, the Hotel offers a wealth of amenities like High-Speed Wireless Internet, Continental Breakfast Buffet (rare in many hotels in NYC), All-day Refreshments in the Club Room, Bottled Water In Room Daily, Belgian Chocolate in Room upon Arrival, Local & Toll-Free Calls, Library with Books and Newspapers and much more. Not mentioning the famous Happy Hour, known also as the 3-Hour Wine & Hors d’oeuvres Reception. It is awesome. Everyday, from 5pm until 8pm all guests are welcomed to the Hotel Elysée’s Club Room. There you can enjoy a wine & hors d’oeuvres reception with wine (red or white or prosecco) and a selection of cheeses, crackers, mixed olives, nuts, pretzels and crudités. We’ve never seen something like that before. We loved it!

The Hotel has 24 Hours Concierge Service, Computer Station, Printing and Fax Access. Staying at Hotel Elysée you will have a personalized assistance and you will get all the help you may need, like where to go, where to eat or where to buy something. They are very attentive and very nice. The Hotel also has a Library or Reading Room, where you can find DVDs and a piano, besides books, magazines and daily newspapers.

And the list of services Hotel Elysée offers is not done yet. We still didn’t finish all of them. For those who look for fitness facilities, they offer complimentary passes to the New York Sports Club. It has many locations throughout Manhattan and the nearest facility is only five short blocks away (on Park Avenue and 59th Street). Staying at Hotel Elysée you also have the option to have dinner at Monkey Bar, a fancy and great restaurant. You don’t even need to get out of the hotel. It’s amazing! You also can have an in-room dining. The Monkey Bar at Hotel Elysée offers a room service menu for hotel guests.

Continental breakfast is available in the Club Room daily and it is really good. We had everything we wanted, like eggs, fruits, toasts, croissants, muffins, breads, assorted cereals and yogurts, juices and a selection of international coffees and teas. We loved it!

ACCOMODATIONS

Hotel Elysée features 7 room types: Deluxe Queen, Deluxe King, Deluxe Double Room, Junior Suite, King Suite, Grand King Suite and three Presidential Suites. We stayed in a Deluxe King Suite and we loved it! It was perfect! We strongly recommend this hotel and this kind of room.

All rooms of Hotel Elysée are very spacious and very well decorated, featuring unique antiques, original art, iPod docking systems, free Wi-Fi and TV. They are all extremely comfortable. Surely you will have a memorable stay and a perfect night of sleep there. Actually, we slept better than ever in Hotel Elysée. And this is really important in a business or vacation trip, you must have a perfect night of sleep to recharge your energy for the next day touring the city. And Hotel Elysée has the best pillows and mattress, so you will definitely have a luxurious night’s sleep like we had.

All rooms are luxurious and have Gilchrist & Soames Bath Products, mini bar, in-room safe, individual temperature control, iron and ironing board, writing desk, hairdryer, bathrobes and slippers. Our room had even a balcony facing the street. We loved everything about this amazing Hotel in NYC.
