For those who want to know the most visited region in Germany and one of the preferred ones in Europe, the Romantic Road in the Bavaria Region, must include Schwangau in your trip itinerary. Just a few kilometers from Füssen (more famous than Schwangau), it’s in this lovely and rural city named Schwangau where’s located the Schloss Hohenschwangau and the famous Schloss Neuschwanstein (Cinderella’s Castle), and also the Museum of the Bavarian Kings.

 

The Hotel has a privileged location, providing incredible views of both Castles of the King Ludwig II, Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau Castles, and a fantastic view of the Bavarian Alps. It’s a spectacular landscape of forests, mountains and lakes. But the Castles add to the charm of the city too. The view is really overwhelming.

The city of Schwangau is very charming and it’s worthy to explore it. With a mix of mountains, lakes, castles and many green area, we recommend to stay in Schwangau and staying at the Hotel Das Rübezahl you’ll have a privilege view of both castles and of the Bavarian Alps. The view is really breathtaking and it’s only one of the main advantages of the Hotel: its localization. 

 

The Hotel das Ruebezahl has an amazing infrastructure, an overwhelming view and a spectacular attendance, everything so you can have a perfect stay there. The rooms are very spacious and charming, in an elegant and classic style. And to make all of this even more perfect, the view is fantastic, in front of the Bavarian Alps and in front of the Castles, not mentioning the mountain weather that makes the Hotel even more romantic.

• SPA HOTEL

Das Rübezahl is a Romantic Spa Hotel. In front of Bavarian Alps, Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein Castles, you can relax your body and soul in a panorama sauna, hot tub and heated outdoor pool while you aprecciate a breathtaking view from a fairytale. There are also other parts of the spa with so many others activities.

 

 

Each guest has its own Spa Kit to be used inside the hotel, on the SPA area. The Kit includes a bag,  robe, bath towel and slippers. The kit is found at the room.

 

Therme Romana is the ideal place for those who love saunas, with many options to relax your body, mind and soul. There is the Roman Sauna (80-90°C), Herbal steam bath (55°C with 95% humidity) and in Tepidarium there is a option for lower temperatures (40°C) and warm relaxation lounge chairs. In the area there are also Whirlpools. 

 

The SPA is very complete. There is also a Relaxation Room with comfortable lounge chairs and water beds, Panorama Organic Sauna and panorama window for a fantastic view of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, Whirlpool and relax lounge chairs,  Heated outdoor pool (32°C) with view to the castles, Panorama Sun Deck and much more to make it unique and perfect, worthy of a 4 Star Hotel.

 

I’ve never seen a SPA so unique and perfect like that. It’s really amazing the luxury of each area. And everything is included on the price. It’s an excellent cost/benefit choice.

Besides all of this there is still a Beauty-Spa called “Beauty Alm”, reserved for massages and different treatments for the body. On this room there is a Private Suite (“Privat Spa Suite”), where is offered different kinds of treatments for couples. It’s simply PERFECT!

 

For us it was essential this moment of relaxing, because travelling through Europe is fantastic but it’s also always very exhausting. So, at the end of our trip, our body needed some rest and the days we spent at Hotel Das Ruebezahl were perfect for relaxing.

 

• CULINARY

Besides the perfect spa, the amazing rooms, the luxurious service, the fantastic view and the excellent localization, the gastronomy of Hotel Das Ruebezahl also deserves its credits. From breakfast to dinner, everything is delicious. The gastronomy is always worthy of a 4 Star Hotel. Not mentioning the elegance of the restaurant. The atmosphere is casual, with option of outdoor seating with view of the castles.

 

Breakfast is very complete, with a huge variety of breads, jams, cereals, juices, pancakes, waffles, sausages, eggs, etc. Everything is of excellent quality. Breakfast may also be served in the room (upon request).

Dinner is also fantastic, served in a romantic way, perfect for honeymoon or special dates to celebrate in couple. We suggest you opt for Half Board (breakfast and dinner), so you can eat very well and also spend more time in this perfect hotel in the Bavarian Alps.

The owners of the Hotel are the Thurm Family, Giselle and Erhard Thurm. Giselle is a brazilian in love with the Bavaria Region. They both speak German, English and Portuguese. They are a very sweet couple and they are very receptive to their customers . They do everything to make sure you will have a memorable stay and you certainly will.

 

Besides all of this, Giselle and Erhard also own a Restaurant at the Mountain, called Rohrkopfhutte. It’s a charming cabin that gives you an incredible view of Cinderella’s Castle, the Alps, lakes and all of that fantastic green area. It’s really amazing.  Rohrkopfhutte restaurant has a rural atmosphere and an excellent location.

 

 

And it’s not just a beautiful view that the restaurant at the mountain gives you. The food and the drink are of high quality and the staff service is nice as well. As we don’t drink alcohol, we ordered an excellent grape juice, typical from the region. But if you are a fan of beer don’t forget to order a good German beer while you appreciate the view from up there. We also got a dessert called Kaiserschmarren, a traditional German pancake dish with apple. It’s very delicous.

 

Not mentioning the adventure that is to arrive at the restaurant. The nature lovers are gonna love it. To get up there, usually it has two options (since the restaurant stays exactly in the middle of the mountain): you can go hiking through the mountain until you reach the Cabin, OR you can take the cable car ride (Tegelbergbahn) until the top of the hill, while you appreciate the view from above. When you reach the mountain top with the cable car, you’ll need to hike down the hill until you get to the restaurant. We preferred the second option, but they are both easy to do it, despite requiring a long time walking. Make sure to wear appropriate clothes and shoes. The physical activity is worthy,  don’t leave the town without going up there. It’s an unique experience, very different from everything we did along our trip through Europe.

For those who enjoy some more adventure, at the Mountain there is also option for radical sports, like skydiving and paraglider. The restaurant at the Mountain is also a challenge for mountain bikers. The adventure is also guaranteed in the winter, when the mountain becomes some kind of ski station.

 

 

It’s not hard to notice why we loved to stay in Schwangau and at the Hotel Das Ruebezahl. There you can find attractions for all tastes, ages, for different degrees of courage and for all kind of person: for nature lovers, adventurous travellers, for the romantics ones, for those who want to relax and appreciate a good meal and a wonderful view, and for all of those who want all of these but don’t give up a stay of luxury and comfort.
